After 19 hours of grueling, all consuming labor, ending in a c-section, I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy who became the center of mine and my fiancée's world and started our little family. At 4 months old, his pediatrician was concerned about the shape of his head and sent us to a craniofacial specialist. After 4 more months of doctor visits, scary scans, and seeing more specialists, they determined that his head shape is due to birth trauma from being stuck in the birth canal for 8 hours, and that he should be put in a molding helmet to improve the shape of it. If he does not get put in the helmet his head shape will worsen and may cause sinus, vision, and hearing problems as he grows, and can greatly and negatively affect his self confidence and self esteem as he gets older. We love our son and will always believe that he is perfect, but would never want him to feel ugly or insecure about himself and want to prevent any physical problems that might happen if we're unable to afford care for him. We are determined to get him the best care possible, but need help covering the cost of the helmet as well as travel expenses for his biweekly out of town fittings. Unfortunately, his insurance will not cover it, and we are in immediate need of treatment.
