NOAH HEIN MEMORIAL FUND

The Noah Hein Memorial Fund

Hello everyone.  I am sure most of you know our family story but just in case you don't please allow us the time to share it with you.

In 2000 we adopted our little man from Vietnam when he was 4 months old.  Talk about proud parents, we were so happy to finally start our family.   We did the same things most families did, we went to the movies, we traveled, camped out, rode our bikes, etc.  Since he was our only child he probably seemed spoiled to others that knew us, yea he was spoiled but he was a grounded kid.

Our family life was going great until 2008 when Noah was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Naturally the news of cancer was devastating to our family.  Why our family?  Why did it have to happen to our only child?  Simply it's cancer, it knows no bounds.

From that point we were going to do whatever we needed to get Noah healthy.  We began his chemo and he went through the treatments like a champ, we could not ask anymore of an 8 year old.  He continued his treatment over the next few years when his tests revealed his cancer was in remission.

In 2012 we found that Noah's cancer was back and we all spent the next year doing our best to get him back into remission.  Our little man passed away on Valentine's Day 2013.

It has been two years since Leukemia took Noah away from us.  With Noah's 15th birthday coming up on May 7th, we felt it was a good time to do something wonderful in his memory.

There are many great charities that have been started to help the children and their families affected by this horrible disease.  We received support from several of these charities, and now we’d like to return the support to a few of those that helped us in one way or another while we tried to get Noah healthy again.

Starting on Noah's birthday we would like your help raising as much money as we can by the end of the month.  All funds will be donated to the below charities and organizations.

So what do you think?  Can you help us raise funds in Noah's memory?

The donors that donate the highest amount will be entered into a drawing and one lucky donor will receive a colorful eye catching painting from our friend Federico Torres Bodon.  More about the artist and painting below.

Here are the charities and organizations we would like your help raising funds for, each touched our family in some way:

Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta - The doctors and nurses at this clinic took great care of our family during our visits and long stays in the hospital.  The support and care these wonderful folks provide our kids and families is amazing. http://www.choa.org/Childrens-Hospital-Services/Cancer-and-Blood-Disorders

-CURE Childhood Cancer- Another great organization, this group supports and funds research for cancer cures.  They also support families by assisting with bills, gas, parking, and accommodations while in treatment.  Once a week their volunteers would come visit and bring dinner for the families living in the hospital. http://www.curechildhoodcancer.org/

-Jessica Lee Foundation-  We met Jessica and her parents at the AFLAC clinic.  We would see them everyday while the kids were doing their laps.  Sadly, leukemia took her from this lovely family and they started this foundation in her memory to support families in treatment and cancer research.  http://www.jessicaleefoundation.org/

-Make-A-Wish- I am sure you know about these folks.  They help make the wishes of our sick kids come true.  http://georgia.wish.org/

-Tuckers Toybox- Tucker's mom Jen reached out to us when she learned Noah and Tucker had the same rare type of leukemia.  TAF sent Noah some of the Diary of a  Wimpy Kid books he was missing.  These great folks provide toys and books to kids staying in the hospital.  They also fund research of t(17;19) which is the rare translocation our boys had.   http://www.tuckerstoybox.org/

Need more info to help you decide whether you should help us fund research for a cure and support families going through treatments?  Please read the information on the link below.

Still need a push to donate?  Please watch this video to see what was taken from our family.   Your donation can help in the continued support of families going through treatments, ongoing research for a cure and better therapies.  One day we will keep other families from losing their children to this disease.

A statement from our artist friend Federico  Torres Bodon:
"Art is for me the most sincere manifestation of my spirituality and emotions. Words can normally disguise the reality of each individual, but art never lies. I use my paintings as a way of channeling the complexity of daily life. The lights of the Impressionism along with the spontaneity and force of the Abstract and Figurative Expressionism are my biggest influences along with my deep love towards music which is manifested through the rhythmical and the melodic movement reflected in my brush strokes and in my paintings’ composition. Always striving to reach the harmony in chaos; challenging myself to integrate the theme of duality in all my artworks. Representing sadness with the colors of happiness and the conflict between the opposite forces that remain constant within our internal battles which are the base of what I want to capture through each canvas."

The name of the painting to be given away at the end of the month is the "Embrace".   The medium is acrylic on canvas and the dimensions are 28" x 22".

A cool fact about Fed is that Motley Crue is currently using a design he created to be used on their merchandise for their 2015 Final Tour.

Fed's bio and other work can be seen at the "Parallel Worlds Art Studio" facebook page and at http://www.artsontheriver.com/FedericoTorres.html

In closing we would like to thank you for visiting our page and to send our THANK YOU back out to our family, and friends that did so much for our family over the years as we tried to get Noah healthy.  We can not forget to 'thank' all of the nurses and doctors that helped us along the way.

Hugs.......
