Noah Kidwell Memorial Fund

Welcome to the Noah Kidwell memorial fund. This fund is set up by the theology and religion department at the University of Birmingham in memory of Noah, the son of our colleague Jeremy Kidwell who discovered that his 14 year old son had died unexpectely in his sleep. Far better than we could explain, Jeremy has written about Noah in his personal blog https://blog.jeremykidwell.info/2026/01/noah/.

As a small measure to honour our colleague and friend, and in memory of Noah, this fundraiser is intended to fund a neurodiverse student in theology and religion, with particular attention to autism. The main criteria would be (a) that eligible students must be studying within the Theology and Religion department and have either a working diagnosis (due to long wait lists) or an official diagnosis (https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/autism/getting-diagnosed/). It does not matter where on the spectrum the person is located. And (b) that the application details how the funds support the neurodiversity of the student, e.g., through purchase of learning software or training (https://www.neurodiversityhub.org/), encouraging applicants to bring creative requests, hiring a speaker, bespoke coaching, joining a society, developing social skills, purchasing books or other similar material.

The funds will be officially received by the Development and Alumni Relations Office of the University. The recipient will be selected by the departmental staff in theology and religion under the title 'Noah Kidwell Neurodiversity Support Fund.'
