Help Noa & Jules stay in Canada, together

UPDATE: Holy sh-t, y'all helped us reach our goal of 2000 CAD in 3 DAYS. I am blown away by the generosity, not just through donations, but all the people who shared this fundraiser and all y'all who reached out with offers of care and assistance! I can't put into words how grateful we are, but please know that we are safer together with your help <3

I've updated the fundraiser to automated goal setting - anything extra from here on out (the morning of April 19, EST) will help us with 1) rent, groceries, and 2) taking Felicia and Tadashi for their vet visits (something that has had to wait on the backburner because of all the financial issues in the past year).

THANK YOU!

The ask: $2000 before May 4 to secure my University enrolment. Anything extra will go towards paying for the summer classes until I can work again, and to cover rent and food, and take the kitties to the vet.

The situation: Hello there :) My name is Jules, and my wife Noa and I have been living in Canada for almost 10 years now. It's been a struggle at times, but we've made a life here with our two cats, and in 2025 things were finally looking up, and we were planning on starting a family. Noa had a well-paying full-time remote job, I had a decent part-time job.

Unfortunately, my wife's health took a dive mid-year, and we were in and out of the ER twelve times in three months without doctors being able to find anything wrong. Because of this, she was let go from her job and I had to quit work to be a full-time caretaker, leaving us without any stable income, no substantial savings, and no real options for government assistance, since neither one of us is a Canadian citizen and we're both here on work visas. We are in the PR pool, but we have a ways to go yet.

Going back to school will allow me to read up my GPA and apply for a Master's Degree in Psychology, and will also allow us to stay together. If I can't pay for the courses, I won't be able to return to school, which means not only would my wife and I be forced to leave Canada, but we wouldn't even be able to stay together; I would have to go back to Sweden, and she would have to return to the US, which is terrifying for a number of reasons - not only the volatile political climate, but she originally left the US to get away from an abusive ex-boyfriend who threatened to kill her, so going back puts her in legitimate danger. She is also unable to come to Sweden with me because her mother currently lives in New York, and has been diagnosed with early onset dementia with a history of Alzheimer's in her family, and my wife is her only child and currently her only support.

Unfortunately, my wife's family has hit the limit on how much they can help, and my family has decided they will no longer help us, as my mother states she refuses to "simply prolong the inevitable collapse" of our life here, since she sees our relationship as "just a phase" and is pushing me to leave my wife so I can move back home and settle down with a "nice man". For perspective, my wife and I have been together for twelve years, and married for eight.

Please help us be able to stay together in the home we've made in this beautiful, accepting country. Anything would help our little family feel secure!
