No Ordinary Blue Short Film
Donation protected
I was always told I had a grown-up spirit for a little kid. Because of this, I couldn’t wait to get to college so that I could really experience everything adulthood had to offer: drinking, partying, falling in love, studying in big classrooms, driving to new cities for getaways with all my other grown-up friends. Now that I’ve graduated from the University of Florida, I’m not sure what to look forward to anymore. During the hard nights following my graduation, I started to write “No Ordinary Blue” with no intentions of showing the script to anyone.
I’ve always been very careful and particular about talking about my depression to my friends. I was terrified that they wouldn’t be able to separate my experience with mental illness from my entire identity, so I refused to write about it. Then, I got to know my main character Peter Rooney as I tried to figure out my next steps. There are many times where I still can’t quite figure out where Peter begins and where I end. After showing the script to my closest friends, I was unexpectedly met with validation, support, and encouragement to bring this story to life.
Leaving college behind is the hardest thing I’ve experienced so far, but I am thankful to say goodbye to my beloved college-town by making this short-film with the friends I’ve made during my time at UF. I am still pinching myself over having the Avengers of UF Film Production agreeing to work on this film with me. And to be honest, the only thing that has gotten me through this confusing period of my life has been the kindness and love of these friends. I owe them everything.
With your support and donation, we will be able to support our team of 25 creatives as we bring this story to life. We are 100% self-funded, so every cent and dollar will go towards securing equipment, locations, gas, food, and everything else that goes into making a movie (which is a lot). Thank you for your consideration!
