No one should have to ever bury a child

Mason was born on October 17, 2017 with Spina Bifida, Chiari Malformation, Hyrdocephalus and bilateral Clubfoot. His first 7 months of his life were spent living in the hospital. He had several surgeries. Once he finally can home he had a Trach and a G-tube. He required constant care and a vent to help with breathing.
He was gradually needing his vent less and less. There were plans for a sleep study to see about removing his vent.  Despite everything this little boy was going through, he was so happy and brought smiles to everyone who met him.
On Wednesday January, 16th my sister was getting ready for her day as usual. She was out of the room for only a few minutes and when she returned she found her son slumped over. She rushed to him and tried to revive him. She called 911, the EMTs came  and they were not able to revive him either. At the hospital they were finally able to restart his heart. Him and my sister were flown down to Cooks Children’s Medical Center in Texas.
The next few days were spent doing several test to see what his brain function was and to assess the damage that had been done due to it taking so long to restart his heart. On Friday, my sister was given the news that the damage to his brain was very severe and extensive. There was no coming back for him. There were no chances of him ever waking up again. After lots of thoughts and tears, my sister made the choice to take him off of the vent. On Saturday, around 5 pm he was removed from his vent. It took a few days, but he did pass peacefully in his mother’s arms. His heart valves were the only things that could be donated. And yesterday they were transplanted into another child.
My sister has been out of work for the last week and she needs to be able to take time to get all of her affairs in order. She has a funeral to plan and 2 other wonderful children to help cope with the loss of their little brother. She is not good at asking for help for so I am doing it for her. She could use some help to pay her bills during this hard time. She is an amazing mother who does anything and everything for her children.
