Hello, my name is Johnny. I'm making a plea on behalf of my friend Britni. Last week after the San Francisco Pride Parade she was the victim of a gunshot to the face, point-blank. I shouldn't have to include this fact as it is a private detail under normal circumstances, but my friend is a Transgender Woman of Color.

Britni began what was supposed to be something most people regularly experience in their life without ever considering how they could be in danger or experience violence. She accepted an offer to go out on a date with someone. That person showered her with attention and gave her hope of experiencing the joy and excitement that comes with meeting and getting to know someone who sees you for who you are. Unfortunately, this never happened for Britni that evening. The details are fuzzy, but the basic story is that what began with so much promise ended with my friend running down a Sacramento highway completely naked with a gunshot wound to the face. Some random driver decided to stop and take her to the hospital when so many people just zoomed past as she bled out, getting closer to just falling down dead. Can you imagine what that must have been like? I cant stop imagining and it terrifies me. Just in case I failed to explain the story correctly, her date shot her in the face and left her for dead. The bullet went into her forehead and came out the side of her face. She has been in the hospital since that evening.

Britni was already experiencing what life is like when you are under-housed. She has no permanent place to call home. This event will be challenging to come back to normal. I want to raise money for her recovery and perhaps help give some stability to her life as well. She needs help getting her feet back on the ground that was already shaky before this tragedy. Please help me show her that life is an amazing thing and she deserves to experience it like most other people do. Most importantly, I hope to show Britni that she is not alone in this world.
