Help Arik Fight Stage IV Stomach Cancer

If you know Arik, you know he is the kind of person who shows up for people. He has been a pillar of our community and has spent countless years helping anyone and everyone in need, often without expecting anything in return. Now, it’s our turn to show up for him.

Arik was recently diagnosed with Stage IV stomach cancer. He is facing a difficult road ahead that will include treatment, appointments, and many unknowns. Despite the weight of this diagnosis, Arik is highly motivated to fight, pursue his treatment options, and do everything he can to get ahead of this disease.

There is so much uncertainty that comes with a cancer diagnosis, not only physically and emotionally, but financially as well. Our hope is that this fundraiser can take at least one burden off Arik’s shoulders. Donations will help with medical expenses, travel and treatment related costs, everyday living expenses, and the unexpected needs that may come up along the way.

While there are many uncertainties ahead, one thing is certain: Arik will not face this alone.

He has spent so much of his life giving to others. Now we have the opportunity to give some of that love and support back to him.

UPDATE AS OF 10/18

We wanted to share an update on Arik as of tonight.

Today, it was determined that Arik needed surgery after doctors discovered a leak somewhere in his intestines. The surgeon needed to operate to determine the source of the leak and better understand what was going on.

The surgery went well in the sense that Arik is stable following the procedure, and we are incredibly grateful for that. During surgery, tumors were seen involving his intestines. At this time, we do not yet have all of the details regarding their exact location or extent, and we will share more when we know more.

Encouragingly, the surgeon believes Arik should recover well enough from surgery to transfer to MD Anderson in Houston later this week, where the next steps in his care can be determined.

There are still many unknowns, but right now we are grateful that Arik made it through surgery and is stable. Please continue to keep him in your prayers and send him all the strength, love, and encouragement you can.
