Hi, my name is Nancy, Aunt Nancy to this super awesome kiddo. So WHY, exactly, do I want no more video games for Nicholas? Because he’s a 15 year old kid with a terrible genetic bone disease who loves to do jumps on his bike, roller skate with his friends, play basketball at church, and drive with his new drivers permit. Nicholas can’t do any of those things now, he hasn’t even been able to attend 10th grade in person since January, all he can do now…is play video games.
Here is a summary about Nicholas:
Diagnosed with Hereditary Multiple Exostoses (Diahyseal Aclasia), a condition where he develops bony growths on his bones called Exostoses. They can cause: Pressure on the tendons, nerves and vessels, deformities of limbs and in rare cases become malignant. Nicholas has had 5 surgeries including a major hip surgery and back surgery and now has at least 4 more in the upcoming year. He has developed an extremely rare one at the base of his skull at the center of his head and he is now being referred to Boston Children’s for both neurosurgery and hip reconstruction. He has not even been able to sleep in his own bed for months now despite changing his mattress or enjoy doing anything with his friends as he is not able to walk only a very short distance. He just wants to be able to stand up straight with his leg straight and walk without severe pain and fatigue, and do all those things I listed above and more…all the things a teenage boy should be able to do. As he lives in SC, trips to Boston to see multiple doctors for the multiple issues he currently has, is going to get expensive fast. That, coupled with multiple surgeries on top of the mounting medical debt already incurred. If you could help out Nicholas’s family with a donation that would…be…awesome! But, if you can’t at this time, some prayers would be appreciated too! Thanks so much for reading about my super awesome nephew! God bless!
