No Man is an Eye-land: Help Zane with eye surgery!
Hello team. Our dear Zane has had an unforeseen eye issue which will take him out of commission for about a month.
Let’s help him have clearer sk-eyes ahead by contributing for his medical care and for some self-care during recovery. We need him to be well and keep his eye-roll in tip-top condition!
Thanks in advance for anything you can contribute. It matters and you are appreciated. Some things you might consider funding:
· $5 contribution: music and other audio content downloads to make eye rest suck less
· $10 contribution: nice coffee, cuz soda tastes weird on eyedrops
· $25 contribution: snacks to share with the kind folx shuttling him to stuff
· $50 contribution: one or two bottles of Kraken to celebrate when it’s all over!
· $75 contribution: feed our dude with a grocery or meal delivery
· $100 contribution: 15 seconds of a specialist's time :P
All levels help with medical bills, which are unpredictable and inevitable because America. Zane doesn't have insurance.
Medical bills: a monkey on anyone's back.
(OK, that's an Ewok, but you get it.)

What happened: a story in Zane’s own words, in Facebook posts
Okay, so some people know, so I might as well make a post.
Yesterday I woke up mostly blind in one eye and ended up having an outpatient procedure in an attempt to correct it. It will be some time before we know how successful it will be. (spoilers: outpatient procedures were not successful enough)
Today was round two. 60% improvement with the reattachment, a bit of laser to hold in place, and another follow up Wednesday to see if major surgery will be required. (more spoilers: yes it will)
Round three: there's improvement, but still a ways to go to flatten the retina. Did not have to undergo any additional procedures today, so we're just waiting until Monday to see if the next step is an in-office of in-patient level of fix. (spoiler three: awwww buddy....)
Round three update: there will be a round four.
Some, but not all, of my restrictions have lifted, but there is fluid building up behind the macula which HAS improved since last week, just not ENOUGH.
So the big update. Previous attempts to fix the problem were somewhat successful, but there is a clear detachment that needs to be addressed. Surgery is on Friday. (May 14) It's...a lot of stuff happening, and it looks like it'll take me out for a full month to recover. This month was rather packed for stuff I needed to get done and now...
Zane had a scleral buckle placed, recovery from which is described here if you're interested: https://www.healthline.com/health/scleral-buckling#recovery
