On December 29th, 2019 I suffered a bowel perforation. Originally they thought it was a burst appendix but upon opening me up they realized what had actually happened. Thus the long road to recovery began and as my condition slowly improved I was able to do a bit more. Since the time of the initial injury, I have suffered a number of complications. First, my gallbladder decided enough was enough and decided to stop working. Since I was still healing from the perforation however they had to wait until that was healed and my condition improved enough to perform another surgery. So, from the beginning of March until August I had a percutaneous drain placed within it to drain the contents (fat) that it produced. It was a very painful process for it to do its job during that time so not only was I in tremendous pain, but I also was constantly having gallstones forming inside of it. At one point one of the stones actually traveled to one of the ducts of my pancreas causing pancreatitis. Once the Gallbladder got removed an abscess from Mersa in the operating room formed in its place so that had to be taken care of over a week at the hospital via strong antibiotics.
In April, unfortunately, a well-meaning but slightly klutzy nurse bumped the tray table that my laptop was resting on breaking the hinge, and the corresponding cover of the display is currently still only working because 1 hinge still remains and a single wire connecting to the display still lives. The second that breaks this is done for. I was able to get it repaired, but the repairman stated a full repair would cost me more than the computer was worth so he agreed to a bandaid type repair to "keep it running" for the time being.
My computer is my livelihood and my link to the outside world. In my lifetime I have had 200 plus broken bones and because of this I have severe osteoarthritis throughout my body. So my bed is where I spend most of my time due to it being the place I experience the least amount of pain, though it is still considerable. If I didn't have my computer I would be unable to connect with others or any work. I am a blogger, freelance writer, and gaming content creator to name a few. That is why the amount I am asking for is what it is. To be able to do my highest quality work, especially the gaming content I need a setup that can not only handle running the games themselves but handle the recording, displaying and sound, etc. This takes an awful lot of power, speed, and space (GB, etc) to achieve.
I know times are tough for everyone due to this pandemic and if you cannot afford to donate I completely understand but I still ask you to answer my call to action by sharing my story on your social media. It costs you nothing to click buttons and it would mean so much to me. The doctors may have saved my actual life through those surgeries but you could be saving my emotional life but providing me a new start with a new computer. So please consider helping me if you are able whether it be through donating or sharing. I have faith that there are enough kind good-hearted people like yourself out there that can offer me that helping hand to turn things around for me.
