No Food, No Drink, No More Disability!!

Tim is my brother and he has been in the hospital for the most part since May, 2019-- approx. 9 months. In all this time, he has not been able to eat or drink anything due a severe gastric issue that was corrected with surgery in May of 2019, but ever since then, he has had one complication after another.

He's had multiple holes in his digestive system which have necessitated tube feedings by nasal canula as well as tube feedings directly into his intestines.  Despite this, he's dropped 30% of his body weight going from 210 pounds to 147.  About a month ago, he went through his third open surgery in these 9 months closing a large hole in his stomach. However, another hole has opened in his esophagus, and despite various methods, doctors are unable to close the hole without surgery.

Therefore, today, he's undergoing his 4th open surgery since last May, and it requires two teams of surgeons, thoracic and gastric, to go in and close the hole from the outside using tissue from other areas of his body, breaking a rib to gain access!!  It's a massive surgery, very complicated, that partially undoes the original gastric surgery.  It's likely he'll still suffer gastric problems as it appears they cannot leave the original surgery untouched in this last surgery to normalize his digestive system.

Through all of this, Tim has been up and down, and he's tried to maintain his faith in God and his faith in his doctors, keeping a positive attitude and becoming very informed of the medical profession.  He's been separated from his family, his wife, Jehm, and his cute little 3 year-old, Zachary Tyler.  Although they try to visit him, it is often difficult as the 3 year old likes to run the hospital halls, and they also live almost two hours away from the hospital.

Unfortunately, although Tim had a good job, and his company hopefully will take him back, he's been off the payroll for quite some time.  In addition, his disability has run out, so he's out of funds to pay anything.  His wife also does not work since they have a little one in home.-- So no money for rent, no money for bills, no money for even food now!!!  In addition, although Tim did have health insurance going into this almost 1 year medical mess, his medical bills are mounting, and Tim's wondering how he'll ever be able to pay the bill.

As his family, we will do all we can do, but his situation is so extreme, and he's in need of a lot of help.   Any monetary donation would help.  In addition, since his family lives two hours from UCLA medical center in Santa Monica, if anyone can help by offering accommodations to his family in a nearby hotel for any amount of days from February 18th to March 25th, that would really help.  His elderly mother would like to be there more often for him, but she has a heart condition, so she cannot spend the night in the chair in the hospital, so a nearby bed to sleep would be helpful-- also helpful for his wife and baby who miss their husband and daddy.

Therefore, I hope you find it in your heart to help a family in need that has been brought down by such medical turmoil.  May God bless you and may God bless Timmy and his family and let this journey end soon with Timmy in home with his family.
