UPDATE 16/3: Dexter is home and back to his energetic self on our walks, although still not eating normally. He only has two more steroid tablets to go and hopefully once the tablets, wear off, he'll still be healthy and happy. I'm so excited to tell you that we've got all his bills covered now and have enough to sort out his teeth, when he's well enough. I CANNOT THANK ALL YOU BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE ENOUGH. I WILL ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL FOR YOUR PART IN SAVING DEXTER'S LIFE. ❤️❤️
UPDATE: 15/3: Dexter is on strong steroids and antibiotics to fix a swollen trachea. He's had a camera under anaesthetic; x-rays; bloodworks; ultrasound; rehydration, etc. but nothing is indicating what caused the issue. He is so much brighter and his human is OVER THE MOON that his "prayers were answered". Dexter still isn't eating unless I hand-feed him, but we're on the right path. We're getting closer to covering the bills and I can't thank you all enough!!

I've been walking Dexter nearly every day for the past 3 years. His owner is 93 years old and lives in a Homeswest house. Dexter has always been healthy, vibrant and energetic until a few days ago. He was having trouble swallowing, he was shaking, cowering, hunched over. It was pretty scary. POOPS (Pets of Older Persons) very kindly covered his vet consultation and some bloodwork, but there were no red flags from these results, and he needed an abdominal ultrasound and various other tests to ascertain what the problem was. A 12-hour monitoring stay was recommended by the vet. However, his owner didn't have the funds to pay for this and tearily he told me he would have to put Dexter down so that he didn't suffer without treatment, as he couldn't pay for further investigation. I took a punt and paid the bill myself, as I truly don't think any dog should be put down due to lack of funds. Any small amount you can donate would be greatly appreciated and if we happen to go over the amount of the bill, the balance will be donated to POOPS to continue their amazing work. May your kindness come back twofold. Lynne Kyle (Volunteer for POOPS for 8 years).
