Nero's Surgery

Hi, we are Olivia and Nick and this is our puppy Nero. He is a 7 month old German Shorthaired Pointer. Nero is the most loving friendly dog, who just wants to snuggle and go on long walks. Unfortunately on one of our walks Nero's strong hunting instincts led him to chase a squirrel and he hit a branch on a fallen tree. The branch impaled Nero in the chest and we rushed him to the closest emergency vet. He needed to go into surgery right away has the branch pierced his chest cavity and he had a pneumothorax. Once in surgery they found that he also had a small tear in his diaphragm and bruised his liver. Luckily his lungs were completely missed. They were able to suture up the diaphragm and placed a chest tube to help drain any more fluid or air in his chest. Nero will have to spend at least a few days in the hospital with a chest tube before he can come back home. I understand this time of year is a busy and financially tough, but if you are willing to donate any amount to help with Neros medical bills, we would be forever grateful for the help and support. The Surgery was estimated to be $10,000, which we did not hesitate to do as it meant saving Neros life. For those who know us this dog means the world to us and is our best friend. Hopefully we will be able to bring Nero home soon, but we have a long recovery ahead of us. Thank you all in advanced for your help.
