~Hi Stars~
My name is Nnedi Agbaroji (Nnedimmaya), I am an musician/ artist in Austin, Texas. I've lived in Austin for the past 18 years and been making music collaborating in bands and other musicians' music for over 15 of those years. I am releasing my debut album, "Hierophant" on October 23rd at DAWA HQ and I am curating an intimate night of art and community to celebrate. The night features many facets of Austin's art subcultures including friends, Audrea Diaz (Hip Hop Hooray Radio, 91.7 KOOP), DJ Thien (Chef, Audio Therapy) and Luv Fats Ice Cream (Chi Ndika).
I created this album with the guidance of the cosmically talented Jank Sinatra (Tim Crane) I have made individual mixed media art pieces for each song on the album. The night will feature an art exhibition of the pieces as the stage's setting with live models during DJ sets for audiences to sketch at their leisure.
One of the songs from the album, Pomegranate Uli is inspired by a body art from indigenous to my people, Ndi Igbo and we will have temporary Uli tattoos (lasts up to 2 weeks) applied by local tattoo artist, Fabi Ubeda. There are only 12, $15 spots available between 8 and 10pm. To pre-pay and secure your session, please detail that within the donation and I will comment with your secured appointment time.
During my set there will be multiple local performer friends (Jackie Moon, Chalchi, Jenelle and Izzy Gazette) joining me, sharing their specialty art to adorn the live performance of the music from the album. Multiple cherries will be put on top this evening!
I am raising funds to:
- Get CDs printed
- T Shirts
- Get prints of the artwork made
- Venue rental
- Hire Sound Technician
- Make sure all of the performers are paid for their performance and efforts
I have been an independent artist for the entirety of my music career but I am so grateful for all of the friends and collaborators that have stepped in from time to time to give me an opportunity.
I look forward to this being a wonderful time of friends and loved ones sharing their crafts in collaboration with me celebrating this milestone. I am truly proud of the all the work we've done and I am so excited to share it with you. Please help me make this final part of my dream a reality and then come partake in experiencing it manifested in real life.
