My name is Kate Bologna. I am 42 years old and a single mom of two wonderful high school students, Skyler and Felix. I have a BA from University of Maryland, but have devoted my life to raising my children, the most important job I could ever have. As they become more independent, it's become clear that I need to develop a life for myself, which is a struggle.
While my degree is in psychology, I've worked as a bartender since college. The service industry is a great way to keep a roof over our heads, but my passion is Marketing. I love the combination of Creativity and Logical Thinking that create a great marketing campaign.
I began a company my own, Innovative Content Marketing , but am having trouble getting it off the ground. In the last year I have taught myself how to build websites using wordpress and how to use Photoshop. YouTube is a great resource; however, my ability to develop my skills is limited to just that. I want to continue my education by seeking a degree in design. This is the skill set that seems to keep me from advancing my business.
The mission of my business is to provide marketing solutions and services to small local businesses, here in Albuquerque. I am not looking to get rich, my desire is to help small business grow. I have learned about myself that while it is important to make money, I am not motivated simply by money. I get excited when others succeed.
I currently do marketing for a small local bar, Spectators , that I worked for previously. I developed their website, do email marketing, and represent them to communicate and develop print media with other marketing outlets, like ValPak and the Alibi.
I have also worked with a local Roll Off Company, Western Disposal Services , for the last 2 years doing marketing. I built Western's website and created a number of different programs and marketing campaigns to promote business and branding.
I am asking for your contribution so I can take classes. University of New Mexico, offers about 20 continuing education courses in Graphic Design and Business Marketing programs. They cost between $200 and $300 each. With other school fees that's about $6000. These courses will help me tune my skills in business and design so I can offer my small business customers big business services at small business prices.
