Karter Joseph is a very energetic and fun-loving 2 year old. On February 15th Karter's whole world changed when he was having a hard time just walking. He was admitted to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids on February 19th where he remained until February 22nd. He was diagnosed as having synovitis in his hip which is inflammation of the joint lining. He was sent home on pain medication and was expected to start improving. On March 2nd, Karter was showing no signs of improvement and lab work showed signs of possible infection. Karter was rushed back to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital where a CAT Scan revealed mastoiditis (infection of the bone) and a 4x2cm arachnoid cyst on the back of his head which was causing him to be uncoordinated and unable to walk. As of right now the doctors are unsure of the course of action for Karter. His parents are doing all they can for him but with a 5 year old and being 2 hours from home the expenses, not only for the insurance, are piling up. Their insurance deductible is $5,000. We're asking for as much help as possible to make this stressful time a little easier on Karter and his family. Please consider helping Karter get home soon!
