My name is Michelle Nguyen and I am raising funds to cover my brother's medical expenses. I am the sole provider in my family of 8 and they depend on me for everything. Any donations will be go towards covering my brother's medical expenses. My brother, a freshman at UCSD, suffered a tragic accident on Wednesday (10/28/2020). My brother and his friends were riding their bikes at the park in San Francisco. Eric (my brother) was riding an electric scooter, tripped over a pothole and landed head first. This occurred at night and there was only one street lamp and no cones at the scene to inform the bikers there was a deep pothole. After he landed head first, he had a 3 minute seizure and became unconscious and was brought to the neurosurgical ICU. He has a fracture in his skull and 3 blood clots which is causing loss of taste/smell, severe photophobia, severe headaches, and he could potentially lose his vision and hearing as well. He has UCSD insurance but my family and I are not sure if his emergency Medi-Cal or school insurance will cover all medical expenses. The doctor says it will take about 6 months to a year to see any improvement and he won't be able to go back to school until possibly next quarter, but that will be a stretch. I would appreciate any help during this difficult time that my family and I are going through. Thank you.
