Help Jasmine with Medical Expenses
Donation protected
*Goal is subject to change as the treatment plan is determined/ medical bills come in.*
In January of 2022 my sister Jasmine found a lump in her breast. Exams revealed that it is malignant and that cancerous cells are in nearby axillary lymph nodes. More tests are scheduled to determine the extent of the spread: a chest CT scan, MRI and mammograms in February. So far, doctors have recommended a lumpectomy/double mastectomy followed by daily radiation for a month. She will be taking a medical leave from her MFA in Creative Writing at NYU, where she hoped to teach. By donating, you will help Jasmine cover the cost of medical bills, car rides post treatment, necessary medications, fees associated with medical leave, and living expenses now that she is unable to work.
About Jasmine: Jasmine is a militant committed to organizing in solidarity with all oppressed peoples against the violent material conditions of capitalism, colonialism, and white supremacy. Three years ago, she helped unionize her workplace and, at the beginning of the pandemic, launched an emancipatory mutual aid group, which distributes meals, clothes, blankets, and other essentials to New Orleans’ houseless population. The team has expanded to New York, where she lives now close to her family. Over the past few years, Southern Solidarity has been a resource for many. Please take this opportunity to help Jasmine overcome breast cancer and continue organizing and writing.
