As many of you now know, our dear friend Terry Powell is in the battle of his life. Just one week ago, Terry was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer, which has metastasized to his liver and lymph nodes and is considered uncurable.
The Powell Family is devastated but will be doing everything they can to help fight for Terry's time and his quality of life. We are looking to raise funds to help alleviate medical costs, natural medicine that is not covered by insurance, special dietary needs, and loss of wages due to sickness and appointments. We also want Terry and his family to thoroughly enjoy the remaining time that he has and to be able to get in some lasting memories for Kelly and his Sons, Terrence and Kolby. They should not have to worry about working or finances at a time like this.
Kelly will be dedicating her life to raising awareness about Colorectal Cancer and would like to include a personal message:
• In May 2021, the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force changed the colorectal cancer screening from age 50 to 45, and 40 if you tell your doctor you have a family history of this cancer.
• Colorectal cancer is 100% preventable if caught early enough, colonoscopies are the best practice for early detection.
• Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the Third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the Second and Third most common cause of cancer-related death in both men and women in the U.S.
• The age of diagnosed people is getting younger
• Symptoms of colorectal cancer include but are not limited to:
1. A change in bowel habits that last more than a week to two
2. Unexplained or unexpected weight loss
3. Nausea, vomiting, bloated stomach
4. Stools that appear small and thin
5. Blood in stools
6. Fatigue
Please don't wait to schedule your screening until you have symptoms...
Now lets all rally together!
TIME TO MEET AND BEAT THIS GOAL!
