Our Mission
Every year, our student-run Nicaragua Medical Mission takes a team of volunteers including physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and medical students to Managua, Nicaragua to serve medically underserved communities. Last year we saw over 1,000 patients during three clinic days and expect even more on this trip. We also make house visits and set up long-term care for patients who cannot make it to our health fair sites.

NMM at the University of Miami
Our trip was founded in 2002 by a first year medical student who wanted to have a global impact and recognized the need for medical care in Nicaragua. In this first year, 20 medical students and healthcare professionals went on the trip. Since then, we have expanded and teamed up with AMOS Health and Hope, a clinic in Nicaragua, to have an ongoing presence in the community. This year we will have over 75 medical students and health providers in numerous specialties including internal medicine, pediatrics, ophthalmology, obstetrics & gynecology, dermatology, and physical medicine and rehabilitation. We hope to make this year's trip from March 25-30, 2017 our most successful mission yet!

Special projects
This year we are bringing two special projects to Nicaragua! We will be taking mosquito nets to help battle mosquitos that spread the Zika virus. Mosquito nets offer added protection to parents and children who may get the disease in this high risk area. We are also taking self-refracting spectacles and reading glasses to address the vision needs of our patients. By addressing this correctable cause of blindness, we can ensure that patients are able to read again and that children excel in school!

How you can help
We need your help to reach our goals! All our funds are acquired through fundraising efforts and donations from generous people like yourself. We provide medications and supplies for all the patients at the health fair and are looking for ways to expand every year.
Please make a donation to our mission trip and share this link to help us spread the word for our mission. Our organization is a non-profit 501c3 organization and all donations are tax-deductible. We really appreciate your help!
