This is Mark "Wolfboy" Gillespie.
After getting over the flu, Mark started feeling very weak. He was taken to a hospital that diagnosed him with dehydration & malnutrition, given fluids, & sent on his way home. Shortly after he fell outside of a resturant because he simply could not hold himself up. With the help of a gracious stranger, he was helped up and put into the vehicle. By the next morning Mark could no longer use his hands or legs. He was taken to another hospital who very quickly diagnosed him with Guillian-Barre syndrome.
Guillian-Barre syndrome is a condition in which the immune system attacks the nerves. This syndrome spreads quickly and can paralyze the entire body. Luckily, Mark was treated in time to prevent the spreading to his lungs, but unfortunately the majority of his body was paralized. He received some treatments in his first week at Methodist that made him very sick to his stomach. Finally, the treatments were over to reduce the spread of the syndrome and now the only thing left is to go through physicial and occupational therapy.
Mark was admitted into Methodist Hospital on January 2nd and has been working very hard on getting his strength up to "get back on his feet". After 5 weeks in the hospital he was transferred to Brookdale Patriot Heights physicial therapy center. He goes to therapy every day and is making great progress & regaining feeling thoughout his body, however he still has a tough road ahead.
Mark needs help to get back on his feet both literally and financially. The medical bills are adding up very quickly and the monthly bills are still accruing. Mark is not one to rely on anyone or ask for help, therefore we are asking for him. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
