NLRHS E-Sports Team
Donation protected
The team of 15 students (9th -12th grade) is learning valuable skills in a fun and interactive way, through group video gaming. This sport is sweeping the nation; finding homes in such places as the newly built E-Sports Stadium in Dallas and E-Sports Arena on the Las Vegas Strip in the Luxor. Those skills include, but not limited to:
Working with others in a competitive environment
Social Skills
Strategic Thinking and Planning
Managing Success and Failure
Time Management
The NLRHS team is part of the COE program (Center of Excellence) which is like a Charter school within a public school. All STEM classes are located in the CEO and this includes Engineering/Coding/Robotics. These students are looking to attend college to study information technology/coding and making them potential participants in ABC’s future hiring pool. Students had to try-out to make the two school teams. Like football, students cannot “pay their way onto the team”, however the team itself has hard cost associated with existing. The Principal of the COE program has offered to “front” the entry fee money of $2k (total for the year’s competitions) for the team with the stipulation they find a way to reimburse the school. They have chosen to seek sponsorships to pay the school back.
The team has come to ABC Financial and asked for financial help. Our CEO, Bill Davis, stated he would personally sponsor a $1,000 matching program from every dollar ABC is able to raise from the employee base.
Over the years, ABC has made it a point to focus our “giving-back” to groups whose foundation is in the communities where our offices are located. The NLRHS E-Sports team would be a great, newly formed team, full of bright and energetic kids to add to that list.
Any amount would be helpful. Thank you for your time.
