I am creating this account for my sister Elissa Casper. She is 48 years old and has a severe illness, Pulmonary Fibrosis, which is ultimately disabling and fatal. She was diagnosed with it 6 years ago, and it has progressively gotten worse to the point that she now needs a lung transplant which is the only therapeutic option available.
In the last 2 months she has reached a point where she can no longer do anything without oxygen. Everything she does is difficult, getting out of bed, taking a shower, doing laundry, walking to the car, coughing incessantly, any daily activity is a struggle even with the oxygen. She is unable to work and does not qualify for disability. The economy has been hard on them, and they struggle to make ends meet, and fear losing their home.
Her medical expenses are expensive, medication, doctor visits, therapy, oxygen along with the extra cost to run the oxygen 24/7, all have been very hard to manage. The thought of paying for a transplant is hard to grasp, when the medical expenses she has now are a struggle.
Her doctor has stated that she needs to have the transplant, but there are many things she has to do before she can be placed on the list. That is the reason for me setting up this account.
She is living month to month financially, with nothing left over, and often times behind. The financial and physcial stress is taking a huge toll on her and her family.
This is just the first step to get her on the road for the transplant, which will prolong her life. She will certainly need more financial support when she gets the transplant, and the after care. However, for now, this will mean the world to her and our family. Your donation will provide the hope she needs to reach the next step of her treatment.
Whatever you are willing and able to donate, will be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless!
