Recovery for Noah

Noah is a 15-year old vibrant, witty, humurous, and kind-hearted gentle soul. He loves history, computer games & programming, comedies, volleyball, camping, and traveling. This year, he started highschool and was looking forward to joining clubs, learning, and meeting new friends.

In early September of 2022, Noah started feeling fatigued with nausea, abdominal discomfort, and non-stop fever. We brought him to Urgent Care 5 times and on his fifth visit, they called 911 due to his severely abnormal blood counts. They brought him to Lucille Packard Children's Hospital where he was instantly diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on September 29th, 2022. Our world turned upside down and our hearts are broken beyond belief. As parents, it has been unbearable to see our son go through so much pain and discomfort from his diagnosis. Noah could barely walk initially due to severe anemia as the cancer cells were invading his bone marrow. We learned that Noah will be in aggressive treatment for the next 2-3 years, which involves multiple Chemotherapy, blood transfusions, lumbar punctures with intrathecal chemo, and bone marrow aspirations, not to mention the side effects of his meds, causing him intermittent fevers, weakness, nausea, low immunity, and possible bleeding just to name a few.

Although our medical team at Stanford are amazing and stellar, Noah will be needing full-time caregiver at home to help him. His Dad, Matthew, will become his full-time caregiver, which means he will not be be able to work during the first year of his most intensive treatment. Matt will be taking him to his outpatient chemo infusions, lumbar punctures, blood transfusions, regular follow-up appointments with his Oncology team, monitoring his symptoms, managing his medications, maintaining infection control by constant cleaning & sanitizing of the house, and helping Noah with his nutrition, activity, & hygienic needs. In addition, Mia (his mom) will be required to take a lot of time offs from work to assist caring for Noah in managing his symptoms from treatment side effects and cover for Matt as a caregiver if needed. There may be needed hospitalizations for some of the more aggressive chemo treatments. Besides Matthew not being able to work and Mia missing a lot of days from work, there will be some medical treatments and medications that are not covered fully by insurance, requiring co-pays. So financial strains are highly anticipated in the middle of an already stressful situation.

Noah has been through so much the past couple of weeks. But we are so proud of him. His spirits remain strong. He is our hero.

We are also sincerely grateful for all the prayers and kindness we have received so far. We are blessed to have such loving family and friends.

However, we would like to humbly request for your continued prayers and for any donation you can share to help us care for Noah and stay financially afloat during this extremely difficult time.

Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read Noah's story and for your kind generosity.
May God continue to shower you and your family with abundant blessings.
