Please note that, we started this fundraiser in 2024, to provide for Bhikkhu Candana’s daily requisites as a monk.
Since then, even though the initial goal was not fully met, we have updated the fundraiser amount to reflect the Sangha's yearly cost of living in Europe (which is about $28,000), for 2025 and subsequently for 2026. Lastly, we have chosen not to create a separate Gofundme page for each year, so as to avoid confusion and keep the same online link.
2026 UPDATE!
Dear Friends and Supporters,
May this message find you happy, in a state of confidence, clarity, and unshakable safety.
With the completion of the year, we would like to extend our deep appreciation for your ongoing support of this small Sangha’s requisites, which include the four necessities of a Buddhist monastic: food, robes, shelter, and medicine. In our modern times, these requisites come in the form of a monthly rent and utility bills, food, medicine and nutritional supplements, when needed, and of course robes, which your selfless generosity continues to provide for The Sangha.
Sadhu, Sadhu, Saaadhu…
For nearly 26 centuries, the generosity of the laity has ensured the sustenance of monks and nuns, who dedicate their lives to practicing The Dhamma, while sharing the fruits of their spiritual growth with those who are also thirsty for It. Thus, please know that your donations are literally giving life to The Sangha, because of which Bhikkhu Candana is able to dedicate himself completely to the task of his spiritual training, while working nonstop to bring clarity, visibility, and ease of access to the vast library of Dhamma, through his ongoing translations, online narrations, and especially the explanations he shares while elucidating the original discourses of The Buddha.
Thus, the light of Dhamma is being kept alive, because of your support.
We would like to especially highlight the enormous help of regularly made donations (no matter how small), which ensure that monthly costs such as rent and other fees are paid on time, thus giving The Sangha a sense of security, as far as practical demands of life are concerned.
Bhante continues to reside in Europe, where the monthly cost of living (with everything included) is estimated at 2,000 euros, which, we are grateful to say, has been largely provided through your donations. This year also, we shall keep the current fundraiser as the primary platform to support Bhikkhu Candana’s, and his attendant’s minimal requisites.
May this new year be one of non-delayed effort to train the mind and purify the heart, and thus allow the seed of wisdom to grow within you, exponentially, much like a bamboo that shoots up once its roots have gone deep. May the Blessings of the Triple Gem continue to support your practice, as you thrive in safety, good health, prosperity, tranquility of mind, and deepening of wise and discerning insights that practicing The Dhamma surely provides.
With Mettā and appreciation,
-Sāmaneri Dhammadinnā
