2025 UPDATE!
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Dhamma Greetings and a Happy New Year!
We hope this message finds you feeling well and at ease.
Thank you so much for your continued support of this small Sangha’s requisite needs, because of which Bhante is able to maintain his health with his daily food, the safety of a roof over his head, and the availability of medicine and robes. All of this makes it possible for Bhante to continue practicing and sharing the Dhamma, tirelessly.
Bhante continues to give impromptu Dhamma talks (see “Daily Dhamma with Bhante” in his YT Channel) addressing pertinent questions affecting so many, and especially guiding practitioners who find themselves struggling in a world that largely promotes adhamma. In addition, to assist students in maintaining good physical health, Bhante recently demonstrated the ancient Chinese exercise of “Standing like a Tree” (Zhan Zhuang). Bhante has made available this standing meditation practice to help reduce and avoid physical pain, such as back and neck aches, but especially to integrate both physical, emotional, as well as mental health, through a not-so-demanding exercise that almost anyone can do.
Zhan Zhuang, therefore, is a powerfully grounding practice of rooting oneself through one’s feet, just like a tree, where the practitioner learns to connect the mind with a strong and calm body (you may access the video in Bhante’s YT Channel: “Daily Practice for Health”).
Concurrent with these, every single day, Bhante devotes hours translating and recording the Pāli Suttas/discourses, currently focusing on the Theragāthā Verses, which are the utterances of The Arahant (Fully Awakened) Bhikkhus, the elder monks. Some of these verses Bhante has also used in the bi-weekly sutta exploration sessions (SES) that take place via his zoom classes with close students. In those meetings, Bhante walks the listener through key suttas from the Pāli Canon, with a powerful and relatable commentary to assist and support listeners in applying the practical tools shared through these amazing discourses.
Please know that this remarkable work of Dhamma dāna would not be possible without your generous support of Bhante’s most basic requisites, such as shelter and nutrition, robes and medicine. Without these essentials that sustain a Monk’s life, the Dhamma would not be able to grow with such beauty and abundance…
We appreciate and celebrate your generosity…
Also, we would like to mention that this Gofundme platform with its current fundraiser goal, which is being used as the method of supporting Bhante, has been updated to reflect the Sangha’s monthly essential needs for the entire year, starting January 1st, 2025, until January 1st, 2026.
Again, this fundraiser’s purpose is to provide for the day-to-day needs of the Sangha, ensuring its survival, and the continued growth of the Dhamma. These costs include monthly rent, utilities, food, transportation, health insurance, and unexpected expenses, altogether estimated to be around 1,900 euros per month, for two adults living in Portugal.
Thus, the estimated annual cost of living would be around 22,800 euros, which we have added to the current fundraiser’s initial amount (converted into US dollars), to be able to use the same Gofundme link (rather than making a new page, altogether).
May the merits of your generosity continue to enrich, uplift, and support your practice, bringing joy and sense of ease into your heart, and the lives of all your loved ones!
With deep appreciation,
