I'm reaching out through GoFundMe today to share a personal journey that has deeply impacted my life and to ask for your support as I prepare to embark on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic with the Northern Kentucky University Fellowship of Christian Athletes (NKU FCA) once again.
Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to join this mission trip, and it left an indelible mark on my heart and soul. It was more than just a trip; it was a life-changing experience that strengthened me spiritually and personally. We are dedicated to serving the local communities in meaningful ways, including running sports camps for kids, building houses for people, and sharing the gospel.
The impact of our work last year was undeniable, both on the lives of the people we served and on our own lives. The Dominican Republic mission trip not only reinforced my faith but also ignited a passion for humanitarian work and service that I can't ignore. This year, I am eager to return to the Dominican Republic with NKU FCA to continue this important work. However, I cannot do it alone. I am reaching out to ask for your support in the form of a donation to help cover the costs associated with this mission trip. Your contribution will directly fund travel expenses, supplies, and the resources needed to make a lasting impact in the lives of those we serve.
This mission trip to the Dominican Republic holds immense significance for athletes at NKU, transcending the boundaries of sports and academics. It offers a profound opportunity for these student-athletes to channel their passion, discipline, and teamwork skills into a humanitarian context. As Philippians 2:3-4 reminds us, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." Through running sports camps for local children, they not only impart valuable athletic knowledge but also become mentors, role models, and sources of inspiration. Building houses for families in need reflects the teachings of Matthew 25:40, "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me," fostering a sense of purpose and empathy while emphasizing that the power of teamwork extends beyond the field. Sharing the gospel allows us to explore and strengthen our spiritual values, reinforcing a holistic development that goes beyond physical prowess. As 2 Timothy 4:7 encourages, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." This mission trip is not just about serving others but also about self-discovery, forging bonds with teammates, and realizing the potential to make a meaningful impact on the world, both as athletes and as compassionate individuals. It's an experience that enriches their lives in profound ways, shaping them into well-rounded individuals who value service, community, and personal growth, just as Proverbs 11:25 reminds us that "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed."
Your support, whether through a financial donation or by sharing this message with others who may be willing to help, means the world to me. Every bit counts, and your generosity will help us make a positive change in the world. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering supporting my mission!
With gratitude and blessings,
Miles Parroco
