Joe Tomlinson is a dedicated and loving husband and father. He has spent his life doing things for others, working tirelessly for his church, serving as an usher, on Parish Council and coaching football for kids. He has always had a soft spot for the down and out; believing in them when no one else did. He has organized or volunteered at too many charity events to even mention, helping everyone who needed it. Now it is time to help Joe.
Three years ago Joe was diagnosed with a particularly aggressive form of bladder cancer. He has endured multiple surgeries and procedures, including the chemotherapy standard for his type of cancer. Unfortunately, he has a severe allergy to two of the chemotherapy drugs used to treat his cancer and could not continue with regular treatment. His doctors then turned to an experimental form of chemotherapy through the use of a clinical trial. The drug kept the cancer from growing for a while, but did not reduce the tumor. Joe began to develop infections due to the cancer and the chemotherapy.
Then it looked as if there may be a ray of hope in the form of pembrolizumab, an immunotherapy drug recently approved. This is the drug that in just a few months appears to have removed the brain cancer found in former President Jimmy Carter. Pembroizumab is unique due to the fact that it does not kill cancer cells - instead, it boosts the immune system in order to help it kill them more effectively. Recurring infection has rendered Joe ineligible for the clinical trials and therefore, to the only drug that may save his life. As this potentially life-saving and very expensive drug is not covered by insurance outside the trials, please help us get Joe the medication he needs to save his life. Our sincere and grateful thanks goes out to you in advance.
