Nkondo School Building Project

Donation protected

At Childer Thornton Primary School, we are always looking for ways to make a positive difference in the world around us. We are lucky enough to have been linked with a school in Uganda so we can learn from each other about our traditions, culture and daily lives. This is part of a bigger project called the BIND Educational Partnership Uganda.

The children of Nkondo Primary School enjoy going to school and are extremely happy, but they do not have the funds to build the classrooms that they need. At the moment, they only have one classroom block and this is not complete. They need more space to make room for the 250 pupils they have on roll. Mrs Yarranton, Mrs McManus and Mrs Humphreys are very excited to be visiting Nkondo in October half term to share learning resources and meet the pupils.

We would like to raise enough money to help our new link school build another classroom block. We are extremely excited at the thought of helping a school community in another country to have access to the education that they deserve and we are going to complete different sponsored activities to raise the funds such as ChilderFest (a live music festival) and a sponsored walk on October 12th.

If we can raise £4,000, this will be enough to build one of the three more blocks that Nkondo Primary School currently needs. If we can raise more, maybe we can help to build another!

All money raised will go directly to helping our link new school, so please give generously and help us to make a difference!

Thank you so much!

The children of Childer Thornton Primary School

(Please note, our teachers are paying for themselves and your funds will not pay for their trip - all money will go to the link school).

Update:
On visiting Nkondo Primary School, it was even more obvious how much the nursery children really needed their new classroom. They were sitting in a dark and dismal building on plastic sheeting, with black mould up the walls. It was heartbreaking. We are thrilled that building work started whilst we were there and we have been sent an update from the headteacher:

To finish the build, we desperately need to reach our target of £7,500. This will allow the 72 nursery children on roll to have access to a safe learning environment.

Thank you for your support,

Mrs Yarranton, Mrs McManus and Mrs Humphreys
