Cameron's (12yo) Cancer Relief Fund
Donation protected
Hi, we are the Alba family. I am Florencia (everyone calls me "Fi"), my husband is Adrian, and we have two boys: Cameron (12) and Jacob (6). We also have an amazing exchange daughter from Germany, named Celina (16).
Cameron has been diagnosed with stage 2A Hodgkins’s lymphoma. He has a 10 cm mass in his chest in front of his heart and another mass growing on the side of his neck where it meets his shoulder. We are so blessed that the cancer is not present in any organs or the bone marrow! Cameron has been invited to participate in a clinical trial taking place at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis. This is a huge blessing as we hope to avoid radiation therapy with this trial. As it stands now, Cameron will undergo 4 sessions of chemotherapy (each lasting about a month). He already had his medical port placed when he was under anesthesia for his lymph node biopsy, so he will be able to receive all of his treatments through it.
Many people have asked us how they can help. The place that we anticipate needing the most support is in our monthly finances. Adrian and I will have to spend time on extended sick leave from work. Our oncologist told us that while he is going through chemo, Cameron should not be left at home unattended. We are going to try to work intermittently as we are able, but while on extended sick leave, we will only receive 65% of our pay. Without our full paychecks, we simply cannot cover our month to month expenses. If at the end of this journey, once we have returned to our full monthly salary, there is any money remaining in this account, we pledge to donate the remaining balance to St. Jude's research hospital.
Should you feel it in your heart to help us in any way, whether here monetarily or in some other way, please accept our most grateful thanks.
