Help with Shanda Berto funeral cost
Donation protected
On November 15th my family’s lives were turned upside down. Our mother, Shanda Berto, unexpectedly passed away. Our mom was the most giving, kind, caring and lovable person anyone knew. She spent most of her life giving to the communities she resided in. She grew up in the Ojai/Ventura area where she worked as a waitress at J&M Cafe in Oak View, Vagabond in Ventura and ultimately owning her own restaurant, Shanda’s in Oak View. During her time as a business owner she donated to any cause within the community, even becoming the mayor of Oak View for some time many years ago. Her giving ways followed her onto her next venture of moving away from the place she grew up in to Northern California to run Seiad Cafe in Seiad Valley. Our mom was always right there to donate to any fundraiser, baseball team, cheerleading or school function.
Losing our mom so suddenly has left us needing a little help now. Any donations raised will go towards laying her to rest and anything above that will go towards helping our dad, who is on a fixed income, maintain his household. Possibly get him more reliable transportation. He has lost the love of his life and should be focused on grieving her and remembering her rather than the burden of finances. We are lucky to live in such a wonderful community who has already expressed the want to help us so we felt this would be a good way to reach those people.
Thank you to everyone who has expressed their condolences and kind words. Our mom was an amazing woman and a huge void has been left without her here with all of us.
We love you, mom.
