Dear friends,
I’ve created this fundraiser to support a friend that had a series of extreme life-threatening events that has left him in need of critical support.
Mark was involved in a high-speed car accident where he was broadsided. About 3 weeks later he started experiencing heavy pains in his chest. He had been in a disoriented state since the accident and thinking it was a mild concussion, things just began to spiral down and the need to go to the hospital became critical. Mark was admitted into the ER and there they performed tests and determined he had a heart attack.
It became clear that something much larger was going on as his body and mind began to spiral downward. This lead to neurologists, psychiatrists and psychologists getting involved in what would later be diagnosed as having a traumatic brain injury.
He applied for disability only to find out that he was short some credits to receive benefits.
Mark is a patented, award-winning digital inventor, published writer with a lifelong career in technology who had brought to life a marketplace and fundraising platform specifically designed to feed needs across global communities. He was fully committed to bringing his social enterprise to life for the world.
The unfortunate sequence of events that have occurred since his accident have lead to Mark losing everything he loved and cared for – his home, business, career, car, beloved pets and stability. For the past 3 years he's been fighting to get back to some form of normalcy.
He’s 50 years old and has never experienced homelessness. Since May of 2024 he has been staying with me as he continues to try and climb out of this crisis and heal. His traumatic brain injury and diagnosis’s of PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder are complex and very hard to navigate. His brain and executive functions are slow to regain.
I can honestly say it's has been heartbreaking to see what Mark goes through on a daily basis we all take for granted; from making decisions to problem solving of simple tasks, mixed with confusion, inability to focus, freeze episodes, and deep despair for his ability to manage life.
If you were to ask me to describe him, I would say Mark is extremely kind, gentle, sincere, honest, genuine, humble, calm, sensitive and ‘always puts others before himself’ type of man. He has been there to help others many times throughout his life; I truly believe it’s time for us to help him.
This money is to help him continue to provide himself a safe, supportive environment, help him get the medical attention he needs while working to reclaim his career and life back.
Thank you for taking time to read this. Please share with those who have the heart and means to support. Also, please let me know if you know of additional resources or support that may be available to him. I am here to help him navigate as best as possible and make sound decisions.
Blessings and love to you all ~Sue
