The solar car team at NJIT is a student run organization of more than 50 passionate, enthusiastic students from various disciplines and backgrounds. We've come together to design, build, and race a fully functional solar powered vehicle. With more than half of our members below the junior level, our young members are set to gain valuable hands-on experience in advanced design, systems engineering, business management, and critical thinking, with the design and construction of our car.
We aim to complete the design, building and testing of a fully functional solar powered vehicle by April of next year, and if successful we plan to compete in the American Solar challenge of 2018, a cross country solar car endurance competition. Performance in this competition contributes to proving the durability of solar powered engines, and raises awareness of the technology.
Our project is driven by a global search for efficiency and sustainable use of clean energy. The research carried out in the development of our car is important not only to us for the construction of our car, but also for the fulfillment of this global need. We are acting to contribute positively to the global need for sustainable energy and efficient design. In order to build our car and improve the efficiency of solar car technology, our team carries out research in battery management, solar panel configuration, and power efficiency maximization.
What we need
We are in current need of financial support from individuals and organizations to help with the realization of our project. Without financial help, there is only so much we can do to keep this dynamic mission alive. We need funds to purchase and test essential components needed for the construction of our car. Please consider donating now and help bring our vision to reality. You can take us further!
