"Nica" is a mental health therapy assistance dog who works at the NJ Center for the Healing Arts. She assists her human mother, "Melissa G.," who is a creative expressive arts therapist. Melissa rescued Nica from an abusive situation years ago and now Nica has a special mission -- to give unconditional love to the vulnerable children with whom she works. It is amazing to watch how easily the children share their stories with Nica. She has become a friend to them, and they trust her beyond words.  Now Nica needs us to help her. Recently, she was diagnosed with cancer. With appropriate treatment, she will be able to continue to do her important work. However, the treatment is extremely costly. Since Nica has given so much to our community of healing, we are turning to community to help us  get her the treatment she needs.
