Mattys Medical Funds

My name is Sheena and I created this GofundMe to help with Matt's personal and medical expenses.

Anyone who knows Matt knows what a wonderful person he is! He is the best father to our son. He is kind, genuine, and funny but most noticeably his world revolves around his best friend, Talon!

On December 10, 2023 Matt was having difficulties breathing due to an illness. He went to Urgent Care in Maple Grove, MN where they transported him to Robbinsdale hospital. At that hospital Matt was diagnosed with respiratory failure, pneumonia, severe sepsis shock and empyemas. He was then sedated and intubated and transferred to another hospital, North Memorial hospital in Robbindale, MN.

Matt went into surgery quickly to have the fluids drained out the his left and right side of his lungs. After surgery he was placed in the ICU to rest.

For the past 8 days, Matt has been fighting known and unknown infections throughout his body. He tested negative for Covid, RSV and influenza.

He has been making small improvements daily and with God's grace, hasn't taken any steps backwards.

As of 12/18/23 Matt has had both drains removed but is still fighting an infection and can't get his fever down.

His medical team have been working with him diligently and started weening him off sedation but he is still on the ventilator.

He is able to communicate with head nods and give thumbs up!

Today, Talon gave him a hug and Matt was able to put his hand on Talons head and pat him.

Matt still has a long road of recovery ahead of him. It is unknown when he will be able to return to work.

We all know how stressful emergency bills can be and not working only adds to that but stress doesn't help with healing!! Which is why I am creating this fund, to help relieve some of that stress so he can focus on his well-being as much as possible.

As of right now, we don't know how many more weeks he has in the hospital or what the aftercare will be. His doctors told me to expect a lot of physical therapy to regain overall strength.

My heart breaks for our 9 year old son who just wants his dad home for Christmas. We all love him very much.
