There is a group of amazing people that are bringing focus on Nitas Journey with a fund raiser that is set for Feb 6th.
Their goal is to restore what has been taken over the last three years with Ericas Trumatic Brain Injury, Nita's cancer Journey and resulting business decline.
We are humbeled by the outpouring by so many people. We feel God working through this whole situation to teach us to trust him. He has a new chapter for us.
Look for a post about the fundraiser soon
About Nita
Nita Long is an unbelievable person. She has a smile and a hug that are almost the size of her giant heart. Nothing comes more natural to her than loving others and making them stronger. And many lives have been the recipient of this amazing quality, from this amazing woman.
The Diagnosis
On June 11th, 2015, Nita was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. A very aggressive and rapidly growing type of cancer.
Her oncologist outlined a plan involving a four month stretch of heavy chemo, surgery to remove it, and 16-24 rounds of radiation afterwards. This plan held a 34% chance of success. That is a tough pill to swallow and she and her husband Tom naturally wanted to explore all of their options.
A friend of theirs told them about a center in Tijuana, Mexico called Oasis of Hope Hospital. His wife had first hand experience with this place as she had battled her cancer there. The hospital blends conventional and alternative medicine and came highly recommended.
The Solution
After much research and deliberation Nita and Tom packed their bags and headed to Tijuana for treatment, knowing full well that insurance wasn't going to touch any of it. The plan was for a three week stay, and they went, feeling it was the right decision and their best bet in beating this thing.
The first procedure was a PET/CT scan and revealed that the cancer was contained and had not spread. Dr. Contreras and the team were able to devise a strategy utilizing a group of therapies including Laetrile, Vitamin C, Hyperthermia, Ozone and others to strengthen her immune system and then remove the tumor.
The strategy was very successful and the cancer was removed. Nita is cancer free, though not out of the woods. She will need follow up treatments to reinforce her health.
The Need
Nobody is ready for cancer and it comes at great physical, emotional, and financial cost. It's aggressive nature really left no time to get things in order. On top of that Nita and Tom’s daughter suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury three years ago and most of their reserves had gone to her treatment.
The cancer may be gone but it still weighs quite heavy in the form of bills. Here is a breakdown:
Hospital Stay with therapies = $27,700
Surgery = $9,990
PET/CT scan = $1,200
Home care Nutraceuticals = $3,200 (3mo supply)
3 month follow up at Oasis = $10,000 (week stay, including all therapies again)
6 month follow up at Oasis = $10,000 (week stay, including all therapies again)
That is a total of $62,090.
With the funds they have received already from truly amazing people the need has been reduced. If you’d like to join that movement and be a part of this amazing story please consider helping out. Thank you much for taking the time to learn about their journey.
