This is my beautiful Deyanira (Nira for short). I adopted her from a shelter 4 years ago, just a few weeks after we lost our beloved Capone (male dog) to bone cancer. When I adopted Nira, I had the hope to not only provide her a wonderful life that her original owners didn't do, but that she would help fulfill my life as well. And, she has! My husband and I are married for almost 17 years and we can not have children... our dogs ARE our children! We have dealt with cancer with Capone and it was so hard. It took a toll on our marriage, life, work, and our wallets. I hoped that I would never have to go through this ever again, but sadly today, I took Nira into the vet because we noticed last night that her cheek was swollen and when I looked in her mouth thinking maybe it was an irritated tooth, there was a large black growth in her mouth. This morning, the vet examined her and told me it was cancer. Surgery to remove the growth is needed and will need to be done very soon as the growth is growing fast (was not there a week ago when I was brushing her teeth). At this time, it is unclear as to what kind of cancer it is but melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma is suspected. Both are extremely aggressive and because of the location, they wont just biopsy a portion, the entire growth must be removed and removed very soon. This is a costly surgery that could quickly increase during surgery. Donations would help relieve some of the cost. Prayers, love and support are also needed. If you know me, my dogs are my kids. I have to fight for my girl, we just can't afford to do it alone all over again. Any help is appreciated.
Thank you,
