Hello Everyone and Namaste,

My name is Phurba Lama, and I am reaching out on behalf of my brother, Niraj Tamang, a 24-year-old from Sindhupalchok, Nepal, who is bravely fighting kidney failure caused by IgA nephropathy, a serious and life-threatening kidney disease. Niraj moved to Canada in August 2022 to study Computer Science at Mohawk College, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with big dreams of building a better future for himself and family. Unfortunately, in May 2025, his life took a heartbreaking turn when he suddenly became very sick and was rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital.

At the hospital, he went into respiratory distress and had to be placed on a ventilator. The doctors discovered that both of his kidneys had failed due to IgA nephropathy. He spent several days in the ICU, receiving daily dialysis to remove toxins and fluids from his body. After further tests, the doctors informed us that his kidneys could not recover and that he would need lifelong dialysis or a kidney transplant to survive. Sadly, his health insurance only covered the emergency hospital stay and refused to pay for ongoing dialysis or medications, leaving him with overwhelming medical bills.

With no financial support and his health condition worsening, He is now receiving dialysis three times a week. The journey has been extremely difficult both emotionally and financially, as the costs of dialysis, medications, and transportation continue to rise.

We are now trying to raise funds to cover his ongoing dialysis sessions, medications, laboratory tests, and travel expenses, as well as to prepare for a kidney transplant, which is estimated to cost around 100,000 AUD (approximately One Hundred Thousand AUD). This amount includes surgery, hospital stay, post-transplant medications, and follow-up care.

Niraj is a kind, hardworking young man who still dreams of completing his studies and living a healthy, normal life. With your help, he has a chance to regain his strength and rebuild his future.
