Ninjas in need of a miracle that we cannot provide alone.
On April 22 we awoke to a photo of Ninja, and a text message from our neighbor. "Our friend is looking for a home, her dad went to heaven."

Overwhelmed with emotions, and what this poor girl must be experiencing,
our hearts exploded. We had a few obstacles to overcome but of course we would help. Our biggest obstacle was our 8 year old male Boston Terrier that is extremely territorial. Sha and I agreed to have Ninja come over and if Boston and Lady (our female boston terrier) took to Ninja we could take her in.
Success, everyone was not only getting along, but falling in love.

As soon as we got thru that hurtle, things quickly took a turn for the worse. Ninja who arrived to us full of energy, excited to go on walks, play rope and run in our yard wasn't the same girl. We noticed her behaviors changed quickly. She became immobilized one evening on a walk, and didn't want to go any further. I carried her home and that evening and into the next few days things spiraled. Ninja didn't want to eat, she would pant all night, she was laying down all day and when she would get up to walk or potty, began having trouble stabilizing her back legs. We knew we had to get her to the vet right away.

During Ninja's examination, x-rays confirmed a bulging/ruptured disc. The L1-L2 disc space is collapsed with bridging spondylosis (arthritis) underneath. There appears to be mineralized material overlying this disc space. The disc space in front and behind this area also look narrowed.
We are currently treating her with acupuncture, multiple medications for pain and muscle relaxation, and strict rest. The appearance of the x-rays are concerning that there is a lot of spinal cord compression, so medical management will end up being a temporary band-aid at best.
Ninja is so special, and such a good girl. She's perfect in every way! The thought of her pain worsening is really to much to handle, so we need to act fast. Surgery will be needed to correct her spine. It breaks our heart to see this poor girl suffer that has half her life still left to live.
Ninja is experiencing extreme pain on and off again, heavy panting, and trouble walking and stabilizing her back legs.

We are thrilled there is something that can fix this, but we are mortified at all the expenses adding up. We know spine surgery is no cheap fix (roughly $10,000) and we are already strapped for money. Boston and Lady just had emergency surgery in January, and we are still struggling to pay that off, let alone the new emergency expenses over the course of the passed week, we are officially tapped out. We know everyone is tapped out, we’re living in crazy times!
If you’re able to donate towards Ninjas surgery, medical care and rehabilitation therapy, it will be greatly appreciated, and we will update you with recovery photos and stories as they happen. If nothing at all, please re-post this and share with as many as you can so it reaches as many animal lovers as possible.
We want to get this girl back to 100%. She has so much life to live, we just need your help to ensure it’s pain free.

We Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
