Niner Elementary - 5th Grade Graduates - Mural Design

Hello! This team seeks funding to create a custom mural for Niner Elementary's first graduating class from 5th grade.

Our team will collaborate with the first graduating class from Niner Elementary to create a beautiful mural commemorating their hard work and dedication to learning. The funding we seek will cover the artist's time and all the necessary supplies to paint the mural.

MJ and Chalice worked with The Arts and Empowerment Project to conduct therapeutic art classes at Niner Elementary School. They have a deep affection for children and the community that the teachers have built and wish to contribute to it. Deneer is a locally famous mural artist in the city who desires to give back to the community. They have worked on several projects with schools in Charlotte.

About the School: Niner University Elementary at Amay James is a public school created and led by education experts at UNC Charlotte. We help young students discover the joy of learning and foster the growth of empathy and responsibility through knowledge. Research-validated practices drive our authentic and meaningful curriculum, and we strive to support each learner’s unique identity in a place where academic achievement, social development, and happiness can thrive. Our program is intended to support students from high-needs, low-performing schools or individual students struggling with school. We currently offer grades K-5.

About the team:

Deneer Davis : Sneaker artist, muralist, speaker, educator, born and raised in Charlotte, NC. After tearing my ACL playing basketball to go overseas, I discovered my passion for art and used it to spread love and positivity.

Chalice Meikle : Full-time fine artist, part-time art programming director, volunteer positions for curations and artist collaborations. Strives to find loose threads and combine them to see some magic.

Mj Lopez: Nurturing the emotional needs of our youth through creative & artistic play is my passion. Teacher. Artist. Giver.

What your money goes towards:

$5 Cost of one brush, roller, paint pail, or paint tray with tax

$10 4x Three-pack liners for paint trays

$15 Plastic tarp for floor

$20 2 Pack Frog tape. This is to make Crisp edges in the design

$30 2 gallons pf paint pimer

$40 4x Three-Pack of paint brushes

$50 Pays for 1 hour of the artist's time

$55 1 gallon of paint (12 needed)
