Update:
Hello everyone. We have so far raised almost half of the goal amount for Nina’s Gofundme and I just wanted to give everyone an update on Nina’s condition. There has been good news! Nina's 3 month scans came back clear and her hard work and commitment along with all of your support and prayers have paid off.
She has slowly been trying to get back to normal life activities, however the chemo treatments have left her exhausted and she is still unable to work. She will need continuous scans and labs and the copays are very expensive, along with everyday living expenses. She is also concerned about being able to keep her car insured with no income and she depends on her vehicle to safely take her to appts and run errands.
Nina still has fears and worries her cancer will return. Both of her children live a good distance away and can't be with her much as she would like and I know she would greatly appreciate phone calls, visits or notes. Please feel free to message me if you do not have contact information for her.
Nina is extremely thankful and grateful for all of the love and donations. It has helped her immensely.! Please continue to keep her in your prayers and please consider donating and/or sharing this Gofundme.
Sincerely,
Izabela
Hi, my name is Isabel Profitt and I am writing on behalf of my friend, Nina Fehr, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer. Nina has been part of the Boone community for over 20 years and has been involved with community service for the Hospitality House. She is also an active member in her local religious organization.
Nina has been very ill and weak. Her radiation treatments are daily. She also receives chemotherapy. The treatments leave her exhausted, sick and unable to function. There are times she struggles to breath just walking around her apartment or performing basic or hygienic tasks. At this point, she is unable to work leaving her financially burdened and unable to afford basic necessities.
Nina lives alone. She has two sons but one lives out of state and the other lives in Asheville but is without a car. He has rented a vehicle in the past to visit but this is an expense he cannot frequently afford. Nina does have a car but it is in need of repairs. With her monthly budget, there is just no room for these repairs and she can’t be without a way to her appointments.
Diet and nutrition are an important part of Nina’s well-being. Healthy eating habits are necessary to maintain strength and decrease the side effects of the cancer treatments. She qualifies for very little food assistance and does not have the means to afford the healthy foods she desperately needs.
Please consider donating to help Nina with these basic expenses, that are so necessary for her just to survive. She can have the car repaired, help with her sons car rentals, buy groceries and hire someone to help with the cleaning and laundry that she constantly struggles to maintain. I know she would greatly appreciate any help you can give, and if possible, please share her story so it can reach as many people as possible.
Nina is a good woman and friend. She deserves a chance to fight this cancer aggressively and to live with dignity.
Thank you & God Bless,
Isabel
