Nim Sundaram is many things to many people—a loyal friend, devoted son, caring brother, fun uncle, loving partner, and an all-around legend. Today, he faces one of the toughest battles of his life. Nim has been diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), a rare blood cancer.

The journey ahead will be challenging. Nim will undergo a long and intensive chemotherapy protocol that began on Friday, December 6th. Nim and Sarah were forced to make the decision to begin treatment urgently; this first stage is taking place against the backdrop of Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota. Naturally, the road to recovery comes with significant physical, emotional, and financial burdens.

For those who know Nim, it’s no surprise that he’s meeting this challenge head-on with his characteristic resilience and humour. In his own words, he’s determined to “delete this.” Nim has always been a giver, someone who relentlessly shows up for others. He’s participated in the World’s Greatest Shave multiple times, raising funds for The Leukaemia Foundation. Just a few weeks ago, Nim ran the New York City Marathon—unknowingly, with cancer—to raise money to help fight food insecurity for New Yorkers.

Now it’s our turn to show up for him. Nim’s warmth, (attempted) humour, and zest for life have touched countless lives. This fundraiser is an opportunity to give back—to help Nim, his family, and his incredible partner, Sarah, focus on what matters most: his recovery.

The funds raised will go toward covering the extensive costs associated with his treatment and recovery. True to who he is, Nim has insisted that any unused funds after his treatment will be donated to The Leukaemia Foundation.

Nim is ready for this fight. Let’s rally behind him and ensure he feels the love and support of all of the communities he’s given so much to. Any contribution—big or small—will make a difference in helping Nim navigate this journey.
