Summer in England and Rio
Donation protected
Nilson Moreira Da Silva, a Brazilian rider who runs L&N Equestrian with his partner, Laura VanderVliet, out of Aiken, SC, moved to America a little over three years ago to access more eventing training and competition opportunities. Hard work, extreme focus, a ferocious competitive streak, and help from several supporters have allowed Nilson to produce several horses through the three-star level already. His talent and commmittment garnered the attention of the Brazilian Equestrian Federation and he was offered the opportunity to take his horses to England to train with the legendary Mark Todd in preparation for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Nilson and his horses have spent the summer training with Mark Todd and the rest of the Brazilian Eventing Team. Along with them he traveled to the Rio2016 Olympics as the listed traveling reserve for the Brazilian Team. After the Olympics, Nilson has returned to England to prepare for one of England's premier equestrian events, the Burghley CCI****.
It costs a great deal to train and compete horses overseas. Time away from running the business at home, travel and living expenses as well as additional vet, farrier and board costs add up quickly and without the additional support from people like you, impossible.
In the three years since moving to America, Nilson has come an incredibly long way. He is now riding successfully at the most advanced level of the sport. He has the rides on two talented horses, and he is training with top international riders and coaches in England. The horse can do the job. He can do the job. He just needs your help to stay on course.
