I am extremely proud to announce my daughter has been nominated and selected to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum:Medicine sponsored by George Mason University. She has nine universities to choose from and she has decided to attend the forum at the University of California, Los Angeles as it would be closer to where she resides on the West coast.
Since she was a baby and ever since she was a little girl she has always voiced her interest in medicine. This is why I truly would love to see her have this opportunity. She received a $250 scholarship for the National Youth Leadership Forum in Medicine but it will not be enough for the remaining costs of the program at $3614 which covers housing, two to three meals a day, instruction, materials, and program activities. This does not include airfare and money for two-off site meals, snacks and incidentals. The first deposit is $500 and due on March 1st, 2019 to hold her spot and then she must have the rest paid before the program begins.
This is a prestigious opportunity that will provide Nilsa with hands-on experience and valuable insight from health care professionals. She will visit and practice in the same training simulation centers that med students, residents, and physicians use along with hands-on experience with a variety of medical procedures using the latest technology all while watching real-life medical operation videos and having a physician talk her through the procedure and answer questions in real time.
This would be an incredible experience for Nilsa and would grant her the chance to follow her long life dream to pursue medicine. Attending the forum would allow her the early experience as a Sophomore in high school to not only have hands-on experience but potentially jump start her future endeavor in medicine. She would also receive college credit.
Any donation of any amount small or big would be greatly appreciated and definitely helpful in reaching her goal. I will follow up with a link for donations.
