Hey everyone,
As some of you may or may not know, Nik Pukteris has recently been diagnosed with 'Stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma'.
For a little background, Nik noticed lumps in his throat in October. He didn't think much of it so a visit to the clinic didn't come until January. The doctor didn't feel an examination was necessary, thinking it was simply mono, so she sent him for blood work. He did not have it. Nik grew really sick in March and sought out a new doctor who became aware of the lumps and was very concerned. After necessary testing, the diagnosis was confirmed, Stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma was located in his throat and on one side of his diaphragm.
This recent event has put a halt on many goals Nik (and Jazmin) were planning to accomplish this year. Nik was gearing up to finish the last of his four year plumbing apprenticeship, while maintaining work on the side to pay for school, books, and even a house for him and Jazmin to start their life and hopefully a family together. With Nik being out of work, Jazmin will now have to take on two jobs.
Unfortunately, Medical EI will be up in June and Nik does not have disability insurance through his work, nor can Jazmin's employer(s) cover him.
This GoFundMe page is a way to hopefully give a little relief to this young hardworking couple while they go through a very tough time. I, and others felt it was necessary to put together as Nik is someone who will always give to others and never ask for anything in return. He is always helpful, caring, and respectful to anyone in need.
