Over the last couple of weeks, our dear friends Wendy and Slav (of Portland, Ontario) embarked on a tremendously difficult journey no parent ever wants to take. On May 21st their five year old son, Niko, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL).
After several days of painful tests and procedures, "Niko The Brave" and his courageous family have been given a treatment plan by their oncology team at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). Over the next several months Niko will have to endure multiple phases of chemotherapy treatments with harsh side effects.
With COVID-19 restrictions adding insult to injury, Niko and his parents will be fighting the additional battle of remaining physically isolated from their support network. Extended family and friends are not permitted to visit Niko (or Wendy and Slav) in the hospital.
Our dear Niko is a kind, curious, sensitive and adventurous warrior who needs our help! There will be many unforeseen expenses emerge over the coming months ahead, such as the 225 km round trip between their home in Portland and CHEO (just for starters), plus meals, recovery-related expenses, you name it.
You're support, of ANY amount, is greatly appreciated. Please share the page and let's get Niko home and well !
