"Nikki, urine medical debt!!" #nofilter
Welcome to "Nikki's Kidney Campaign" and thank you for your donation consideration. We are Nicole & Alena and have been best friends with Nikki for over the past 20 years.
On November 10th, Nikki will receive a life saving kidney donation from her mother, MaryEllen. Nikki needs our help to endure the medical costs from her second kidney transplant. If you are not familiar with her story, here is some background:
At the age of 16, Nikki was diagnosed with a rare disease, Aplastic Anemia, after a routine visit to observe some excessive bruising. She was immediately sent to the ER where they discovered that she had little to no white or red bloods cells or platelets. After countless failed treatments, she underwent chemotherapy, radiation, and ultimately, a bone marrow transplant- although not without it's life threatening struggles, her life was saved only to have the rest of her body compromised. Since then, she's undergone a hip replacement surgery and years of monthly phlebotomies, and will require medications for the rest of her life. As of most recently this June, Nikki received a sudden kidney donation from the transplant list. But unfortunately, her body rejected the new organ within the first 24 hours and has since been severely ill. She is in Stage 5 kidney failure and has been battling this renal disease for 13 years. The time is now or never for us to help! MaryEllen aka Supermom is swooping in to bring Nikki life, just as she did 32 years ago at birth.
Nikki's health insurance has been maxed out numerous times and due to Covid-19, she is on medical leave from the hospital where she works as a Pediatric Nurse. This means she currently has no source of income. That being said, Nikki is a fighter! Over the years, she has taken nothing but extraordinary measures to give back to kids who have also endured similar circumstances through her education, career, and volunteer work with Camp Sunshine. She is inspired, inspiring, and vulnerable, and needs our help!
We humbly ask you to PLEASE DONATE anything you can to assist in the costs of Nikki's medical bills, medications, and living expenses due to her loss of income. We appreciate and love you all so much.
*Legal Things To Note*
- Nicole & Alena have set up this GoFundMe on behalf of the beneficiary, Nikki.
- All funds raised through GoFundMe are donations/gifts.
- All funds raised through GoFundMe will be withdrawn directly from Nikki, the beneficiary.
