Nikki's Lymphoma Battle

The Story : Imagine being 21 years old and expecting the only thing in life you'll have to deal with is your friends, family, and making a living.... only to have everything change in a week. Nikki is (almost) your typical 21year old. She's active, fit and has been working full time as a personal trainer at Anytime Fitness, part-time gymnastics coach at Miss Libby's, and taking business managment classes. She thought the fatigue she was feeling was just a side effect of being busy. But, the swelling in her neck was a little different. In the beginning, the doctors thought to be just from Mono, but when the swelling increased we knew something was wrong. The next 2 weeks were filled with phone calls to the doctor, the nurse, another doctor, another nurse, CAT scans, and plently of phone tag.
She got an emergency appointment with a Head and Neck surgeon and a CT scan and biopsy scheduled soon after. The lymphnode needle biopsy was inconclusive and she had to be scheduled for a lymphnode removal.
The results show Nikki has Hodgkins Lymphoma. The oncologist staged it a Stage IIA, favorable! But, it means months of chemotherapy, losing her hair, and years of follow-up. Please look at Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for more information on Hodgkins Lymphoma.
Why GoFundMe? We all know what kind of drive Nikki has to succeed. With Nikki's strength, work ethic, family, friends, and prayer warriors in her corner we also know that Nikki will make it through this. She has insurance through her parents, but the co-pays, deductables, and co-insurance add up quickly. Recovering from chemotherapy and radiation is going to affect her ability to work and she will have to drive from Sumter to Columbia regularly for treatment and doctor visits. Nikki will also need a minimium of $6550 to just cover the inital treatment and we expect her to exceed this number when lost income or travel are added.
