Hi, my name is Staci Schneider. Early in the morning on November 12th, 2022, my little sister Nikki Schneider was on her way to work her United States Postal Service route. It was bright and early (6 am) amidst the first snow of the year. Her Jeep hydroplaned, hitting a culvert and flipping the Jeep multiple times. Luckily, a kind soul was taking her dog out and witnessed it happen. Her husband, a Registered nurse at a nearby hospital sprung into action and helped to keep her awake and alert until medical personnel arrived on the scene. She ended up having to be cut out of the vehicle and has suffered some major damage to her neck and back and has completely lost feeling in her legs and left arm. She was transferred from the Madisonville ER to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, where they determined her injuries were too extensive for them to really help her. They flew her to a trauma center, 3 hours away from her hometown. They have performed a major spinal surgery, lasting almost 7 hours to fuse her spine back together. Now it is just a waiting game to see what the extent of the damage will be. As for now, she will be in the ICU for at least 10 days, followed by a long-term rehab facility for an unspecified amount of time. The road to recovery will be long and hard but Nikki is a fighter and we are hoping for the best possible outcome. She has 3 young girls, ages 11, 9, and 4 who are devastated by these circumstances. Not only will her medical bills be extensive, her household bills will not stop because life happens. Thoughts and prayers are much appreciated and any donations will go towards her and her children's expenses during her time of need.
